The first few days home were really rough, as any momma would know. I think I was a little more emotional this time than with the others, but it only lasted a day or two. Since he has already started to sleep well during the night I'm regaining sanity and starting to feel more normal with those few extra hours of sleep.
Since the kids weren't able to come to the hospital (because of a recent flu ban), we had to wait for several days to see them--it was really hard on us, and we contemplated several times on bringing them up to the hospital window to let them peek in. We waited it out, and set up the video camera for their first reactions to meeting "baby" Ben. I knew Emmaline would be excited. She was so interested in touching my belly and hearing about her brother while I was pregnant. Cash was another story. He rarely cared to touch my stomach to feel the baby move, and never took too much interest in the fact that he would have another sibling. Probably because Emmaline always tries to eat his legos [scary I know], and knock over his blocks. He was much more excited than I thought he would be--grinning from ear to ear the entire time he held him! He didn't want to put him down. Annie was just as I thought she'd be, and I know she'll be a wonderful big sister--she's had a little practice!
